The Ladies' Room and textiles from female artists of 20th c.
Mīror
[to be surprised, to be amazed, to look with wonder, to admire, to stare with respect].
On the occasion of MiArt and Milano Design Week 2019 BUILDING, in collaboration with the Moshe Tabibnia Research Centre, presents the installation Mīror at Gallery Moshe Tabibnia, Via Brera 3. After the exhibition project In Itinere (April 2018), BUILDING renovates its partnership with the designer team The Ladies’ Room: Ilaria Bianchi, Agustina Bottoni, Astrid Luglio, Sara Ricciardi.
Mīror is an ensemble installation of three reflecting sculptures based on a research on the image and the related optical illusions and altered perceptions. Mīror represents the research for a specific moment, the one when you are amazed by a form, a detail, a reflection or yourself. The visitor is actively engaged by the space, invited to enter the installation to have a look at himself or herself, recomposing his or her own portrait, admiring the sculptures from new perspectives and eventually getting lost in the installation again. Three mirrors but also three empty spaces and three geometrical forms to enjoy and discover according to different reflection corners.
Mīror is an unpublished project that dialogues with a selection of textile works created by different artists of the Twentieth century, chosen by The Ladies’ Room in collaboration with the Moshe Tabibnia Study Center. Following the publication Intrecci del Novecento. Tapestries and carpets of Italian artists and manufacturers and of the homonymous exhibition organized at the Triennale di Milano (October 2017), the Gallery Moshe Tabibnia once more unveils some of the most significant works of its collection from the Twentieth century.
Reflected in the mirrors of the Ladies, the viewer will admire the colored swirls of the refined French tapestries by Sonia Delaunay, the lively geometries of the carpets by Nathalie Du Pasquier, the Futurist fabric inlays by Beatrice Santiccioli and the lyrical small-scale compositions by Niki Berlinguer and Anna Maria Del Drago.
