ottod’Ame renews the bond with female art
On Milan Design Week (9-14 April), the ottod’Ame brand chooses to confirm the collaboration with art and the world of design. The choice falls on a woman artist that knows perfectly the brand and its peculiar sensitivity. The store in via Solferino 1, in the very heart of Brera, welcomes the works of art by the Venezuelan artist Maryangel Garcia, who started a cooperation with the brand in 2015 already, whe she gave life to the capsule collection, Sinchronicle.
This way, the ottod’Ame “salotto” will feature canvas and a small furnishing accessory both realized with fabrics and embroideries as expression of the female world.
Inspired by the so-called genre art, Garcia goes even further introducing a complex insight on what it means to be a woman, by extending the generally accepted definitions of human relationship and sexuality in today’s world. She mixes techniques linked conventionally to women and to the influence of traditional culture, and creates a coded narration of personal and collective experiences playfully matching the sacred and the prosaic.
The artworks by Maryangel Gargia concentrate on issues of gender, body and sexuality. Images of mouths, words and bodies placed in a brand new dimension. Stencil, stamps, transferable drawings compose the space of the piece of art by means of repetitive and casual impressions.
“My purpose is to elevate desire to a higher dimension, nearer to ourselves, with an eye keen on its inner reality and truth, shall we say, as instrument of its own evolution”.
