Installation of Hungarian design with a twist

Budapest Select exhibits idiosyncratic objects that surpass the pure representation of forms and materials.

The project brings together a unique constellation reflecting on the layered intersection of design and art by showcasing objects in an unusual perspective. The way of placing the design works allows for fresh and exciting interpretations, as well as letting visitors immerse themselves in the peculiar creativity and design prowess of Hungarian designers.

Budapest Select is an umbrella brand of Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency which is a state-owned non-profit organisation that collectively represents the players of the industry with the aim to actively encourage, embrace and support Hungarian fashion and design industry. The agency is dedicated to unlock the potential of Hungarian designers and to showcase Hungarian creativity on professional platforms worldwide.

ADAMLAMP

Adamlamp is a lighting product design brand founded by Adam Juhasz in 2013. Produces hand-assembled lighting objects, designed from geometric shapes. Designing and producing decorative and unique lamps. Each form is designed and cut digitally, assembled afterwards in a unique way.

Biela Collection

András Kerékgyártó designer studied furniture design in Hungary and Finland – where design has deep roots. As a Central European, he had an outsider’s view on the Scandinavian design and it mixed with his own cultural background.This interesting mixture can be witnessed in his characteristic works.

Brinkus Design

Kata Brinkus-Vándor, rug artist & textile designer's motto: "unconventional design and the belief in excellent quality". The carpets represent a kind of "break free" style from the stringent rules of geometry, combined with different structures (LED, crystal, metal-wood-stone & leather parts).

CODO

The brand was established by Gabor Kodolanyi (designer) and Katalin Halasz in 2009. They create furniture, lamps and accessories following the concept of "eternal beauty". Their intention is to keep the personal tone that describes the small series and to preserve the joy of creation.

Dora Knetik

Beforehand, she was mostly interested in the transformation of functional objects into plastic as well as crossing boundaries between clay and porcelain. Design and creation equal with experimentation, she likes learning from mistakes. Production technique: cast, glued porcelain, transparent glaze.

Edina Andrási

"My artistic activity, is a practice to maintain my mind. The work I make, often blurs boundaries between art and design. My creations are generated from intuitions, inner dispositions, personal life events, and the possibilities provided by the material."

Gyongyi Bokor

Gyongyi Bokor - designer lighting/product/interior. “I would like to surprise and to provoke with my works. I think that design is opinion, awareness, communication, story-telling and philosophy. I would like to make people think about that.”

Hannabi Sofa

HANNABI was founded in 2010, creating a studio that is at the meeting point of product design and visual arts. This is a new category of the modern upholstery workshop. Another feature is the focus on the progressive use of textiles, combined with traditional design technologies.

KOMONKA Textile

Móni Kovács's hand-woven textiles are characterised by her unique treatment of surfaces and her special use of materials. With its contrasting glossed and matte, soft and hard surfaces, her collection of metallic textiles seeks to imitate nature recallin the sun’s glitter and water’s clarity.

Lakatos Abel Ceramics

Polyunomi is a casted porcelain set by Abel Lakatos, inspired by Japanese design and unique qualities of fine porcelain, the shades of white, and low-poly forms of 90s video games. All moulds are formed by hand, this is how the digital-looking forms gain randomness and an organic touch.

Marta Edocs Glass

Marta Edocs creates glass panels, with minimalistic design and interesting color combinations, she is always searching for harmony. Her works are interior decorations, contemporary art objects, but she is also known internationally for her jewelry designs.

POSITION Collective

Contemporary design meets iconic elements of European furniture design in their works. The generous minimalism of their creations fits private homes as well as corporate or other public places, while the harmony of their colors and shapes contributes to the timeless elegance of their premium design.

STUDIO NOMAD

Studio Nomad is a design studio based in Budapest. Bence Pásztor, Dávid Tarcali and Soma Pongor are its founding members. ‘Nomad’ as a word reflects their diverse creative work that comprises anything from small objects to larger landscape architectural projects and spatial installations.
